Just outside Dona Sofia on the beach
side there is Serrano Chiringuito. Chiringuitos are bars that are
found on/by the beach and, as well as serving tapas, offer a variety
of different meals and fresh fish. The speciality is barbecued sardines
and anchovy skewers. If you're looking for a change from meat and
find fish too lacking in texture you could do worse than try a swordfish
or tuna steak. I have been going there year after year for a long
time and I heartily recommend the place. |

An excellent find and marvellous
restaurant. All the food is freshly prepared and beautifully cooked.
They will even do excellent paella for one. They also have a great
pill-pill and their fillet steak is one of the best I have ever
tasted. The waiters are friendly and helpful. The view from the
terrace across the square is wonderful and in the winter the inside
is snug and cosy. The El Capricho is one of the oldest Spanish owned
restaurants in the village and is closed on Wednesdays.

The Fiesta Restaurante-Bar is situated
on the way into Mijas village. It has recently had a major face
lift and is very popular with the locals. Reservations are essential.
The meat is exceptional, especially the entrecote; they also serve
the best home made caramel flan with cream around.

Call in, particularly if it is a
Monday night since are well known for their inspiring Flamenco show
accompanied by a delicious barbecue. At Lew Hoad's not only the
barbecue, which includes fish, (king prawns - superb, tuna and swordfish
being particularly tasty) and meats such as lamb chops and ribs
(great sauce) among others, but also their 'A La Carte' menu are
really enticing. They also do traditional English Sunday lunch.
The waiters are very 'Latino' and very charming, the wine is good
and the surroundings are particularly tropical. Best in summer.

The Valparaiso is one of the best
known restaurants on the Costa del Sol. Famous, not only for its
outstanding cuisine, but its friendly service. The surroundings
are delightful with indoor and outdoor dining. The Valparaiso is
a unique restaurant which offers elegant dinner/dancing each evening
with a “flamenco show” every Thursday. Enjoy a pre-dinner
cocktail while you peruse the impressive menu which features a superb
selection of International dishes with an Italian influence. All
courses are special and include something a little different. Try
the “Delizia del Chef” which includes an assortment
of the chef’s favourite desserts. When dinner is over, the
night begins. Dance under the stars to live music provided by professional
artistes Alas, all good things must come to an end. Ladies are presented
with a rose on leaving – a beautiful moment of a beautiful
evening. A perfect venue for special occasions.

This well-known restaurant is situated
at Mijas Costa beach near the N340. Beautiful surroundings, excellent
food and superb service make the Mijas Playa a first class restaurant
for a special night out. The menu is extensive with many regional
specialities and a wine list to satisfy all pockets. There is a
small dance floor and a pianist who plays most evenings. I probably
prefer this restaurant to Valparaiso but it's a close thing. Prepare
to be spoilt!

The Faro Playa Restaurant is located
right on the beach at El Faro. Their Paella, a house speciality,
is one of the best around and reasonably priced too. The house wine
is 'Don Darios', a very pleasant red. Besides restaurant meals they
also have a good lunch time selection of snacks.

If you find yourself in Marbella
and want somewhere good to eat, either for lunch or dinner, you
must try this restaurant. It is located right in the Marina, the
main Club Nautico. The view from the balcony across the boats is
fantastic..... And there's a menu to match. When you walk in the
entrance it all looks a bit 'stuffy' and expensive.... It isn't.
Take a table on the terrace, order a beer and select some tapas
from the list. PS: the gazpacho and calamari are the 'best'!

Whenever in Estepona try and make
a beeline for Robbie's in Calle Jubrique! Not the cheapest place
in town but still very reasonable by UK standards, and the food
is wonderful. The owner has a "Thing" about Marilyn Monroe,
you will know what I mean as soon as you walk in ... it's different,
believe me!

This majestic 15th century Moorish
castle is situated above the white village of Monda; just a 10 minute
drive from Coin and approximately 30 minutes from Mijas. The food
is absolutely superb, and beautifully presented ... not cheap by
Spanish standards (approx. 45 euros per head with wine, 2004), but
if you would like a special night or Sunday lunch then Castillo
de Monda is a 'must'.

Wonderful restored castle towering
majestically above the surrounding countryside and one of the famous
white villages of Andalucia. El Castillo has witnessed centuries
of history. Superb food, finest cuisine with an Andalucian flavour,
fine selection of fine Spanish wines, superb service, superb quality.
Style and elegance to spoil the senses. Décor distinctly
Moorish, really a fairytale dating back to 8th Century.

Located near the entrance to Mijas
golf course. It is not smart or stylish but noisy and bustling and
to top it all the food is fantastic and cheap. Recommendations from
the menu are the prawns’ pill-pill or white bait followed
by something from the barbecue, especially the pork ribs, grilled
sole, hake Basque Style.
